Drowning in a sea of alcohol and fine women.

19th November, 2009. 9:17 pm. FACT: Telephones are un-social

Things happened with people and there were consequences. This is global. It happens all over the world and there are lessons to be learned. Everywhere.

1. I talked to someone involved and got some clarification on the matter.

2. I talked to someone who wasn't involved but knew a couple of the parties that were involved. He's not gay, but if we spent a lot of time together, I would totally make some hip remark to prove that I am "with it" and friendly to those accursed folk. Gnarly!

3. I talked to some other people about other stuff.

4. I talked to a stranger today. It was kind of awkward.

5. I talked to myself and gained a greater understanding of me. I think I see eye-to-eye with myself when I look in the mirror.

6. I am too lazy to use bold tags but I trust that the people reading this do not need any particular words emphasized for me to make my point.

7. It's a good thing I don't live with my parents. If I did, I might have too much free time to talk to people.

8. I am on good terms with my immediate family. I send them cards on their birthdays. Even my siblings. Just because.

As you read these words imagine all of the missing tones and inflections that I would use if I were reading this aloud to you over the phone.

To all of my friends who are at each other's throats and having to use critical thinking to interpret events, can't you see that the telephone is a necessary part of maintaining our friendsh--wait, are any of my friends at each other's throats? Uh, why would they even be friends then? Do they need to uphold some sort of shallow veneer that everyone is one great big happy family like the end of a Saturday Night Live episode? Curious.

Anyway, my point is made! Listen to my globality and be amazed at my sagacious wisdom.

Current mood: smart.

18th November, 2009. 3:41 pm. FACT: It takes a lot of class

I wish I could be the champion of grown married men with children to support who jeopardize their jobs by posturing online about people they barely know.

Seriously people...What's a little food contamination here or there? Whoever reported them for this possible health code violation should think twice next time.

Well, after finding out about their server's personal situation, of course. I'm sure once they had heard their full background, delivered through a tight-lipped frown, then the spirit of Five Weeks Before Christmas would come upon them and they would feel much more lenient towards them. I bet they live with their parents.

Current mood: speechless.

21st July, 2009. 4:28 pm. Weekend Update

So I had fun this weekend.

On Friday, I saw Stellastarr* at the Rock and Roll Hotel. )

On Saturday, I filmed a little short clip and watched (500) Days of Summer. )

Sunday was a day of rest. Rest meaning I leveled my orc shaman from level 72 to 74.

Current mood: calm.

16th July, 2009. 4:27 pm. Damn you Gamestop!

Now The Dark Spire is selling for $10!
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=180647&affID=77777&sourceID=FKSJxY2VJAk-Zyb6YwvLk1uBl8cB.N05vQ

I bought it for $30 when it came out. Not a bad game if you like old-school dungeon crawlers.

Current mood: morose.

15th July, 2009. 4:20 pm. Anyone have any experience with Starforce and Vista?

I borrowed Broken Sword 3: Sleeping Dragon from [info]kusoyaro and finally got around to trying to play it, but the version of Starforce that comes on the game discs is incompatible with Vista. Supposedly, if I installed the latest Starforce drivers, it would run, but I am somewhat leery because first of all Starforce has a bad reputation and it was a hassle simply trying to get the game to install at all. It asked for permission 3 times for the setup.exe file instead of just once. I assume this is because Starforce tried to invisibly install itself for at least 1, possibly 2, of the extra authorization attempts.

It's not like I don't have plenty of other games to play, but I would also be quite surprised if any widely used software managed to brick components of my computer that I couldn't figure out how to unbrick.

9th July, 2009. 12:27 pm. Stellastarr* on Friday, July 17 at the Rock and Roll Hotel in DC?

Anyone want to go see Stellastarr* on Friday, July 17 at the Rock and Roll Hotel in DC?

Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 DOS (Day of Show).
Doors open at 8:30 PM and the show starts at 9:30 PM.
Wild Light and...I think the Postmarks are the opening bands I think. I'm not 100% sure, as I can't access the venue website at work.

[info]kusoyaro already said he was in so I'll probably buy tickets soon.

Current mood: curious.

6th July, 2009. 3:43 pm. I wonder if this will work

So apparently Best Buy is having a Buy 2, Get 1 free sale on Nintendo DS games this week. Last week, I bought Devil Survivor and Knights in the Nightmare. However, I wouldn't mind getting Avalon Code for free. Or if it's not there, I'll pick up Suikoden: Tierkreis or Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume. So I think I am going to go back this week and try to return both games so I can buy all three at once to get the discount. Ideally, they could just add it onto my existing receipt, but I don't hold much hope in them actually going for that since it's easier to let the computer system handle everything when they scan it in.

In other news, it is hot today, but I am wearing a long sleeve shirt for some odd reason.

Current mood: hopeful.

24th June, 2009. 3:47 pm. Artomatic and mixers

Anyone local want to go to the Artomatic exhibit at the Navy Yard this weekend or next weekend? Or we could go during the week. It ends on July 5th.
http://artomatic.org/

In other news, I'm currently trying to decide on whether to get the Mackie 402-VLZ3 mixer or the 802-VLZ3. The 402 only has 4-channel inputs but it's $100 while the 802 has 8-channels and is $200. I like how the cost is proportional to what you get. The 402 model works perfectly with my current setup of an electric guitar/acoustic guitar and microphone. Well, technically, I just need the one mic if I'm playing with my acoustic and singing, but with this, I could use a separate mic for the guitar itself. However, with only 4 channels, the 402 would fall short if I ever wanted to play with a few more people. Then again, it's $100 less for less expandability but if I ever did want to move up to the bigger version, I'd end up shelling out $300 total for having bought both of them instead of buying the 802 to begin with.

Current mood: busy.

3rd June, 2009. 4:17 pm. Gamestop, you're killing me

No, not really, but today I stopped by a local Gamestop and they were selling The Dark Spire for the Nintendo DS for $20 new. I bought this game from the same store for $30 not 3 weeks ago. The same price drop happened when Lux-Pain for the DS came out too. I bought it maybe a week after the release when it was $30. Then 2 weeks later, I'm in the store and it's marked down to $20! With my penchant for buying games and not actually playing them for a bit, I hoped I could have returned my still-sealed copy, but unfortunately it was after their 10-day return policy. Still, this makes no sense. If they're going to price drop them so quickly, why not just offer them at $20?

Current mood: annoyed.
